 As a fresh graduate what jobs can I apply for within the group?
Ans.
Essar has a management trainee programme as well as a graduate engineer/diploma engineer training programme. Essar also hires fresh graduates outside of these programmes, as sales trainees and chartered accountant interns.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
Ans.
We prefer that you apply for only one listed opening at a time. However, you can mention in your application that you would also like to be considered for other opportunities within the group.

Ans.
Yes, we welcome your application. You can e-mail us your resume, and we will contact you when an appropriate opening comes up.

What is Essar's selection process?
Ans.
Essarís selection process depends on the level of the position you are applying for. For entry-level positions, we assess the person through aptitude tests, group discussions and personal interviews. At the senior level, the selection process consists of discussions with the human resources head, functional experts within Essar and sometimes the promoter-directors.

Once I send you my application, how soon should I expect to hear from you?
Ans.
You can expect to hear from us within three to six weeks. If you do not hear from us within that time, you can assume that we do not currently have an opening that fits your profile.

If I do not hear back from Essar, can I check on the status of my application?
Ans.
Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications that we receive, we will not be able to answer individual queries. However, if you do not hear from us within 6-8 weeks of your application, please assume that your resume was not suitable for the current opening and that we would consider you for future vacancies.

What is your policy on confidentiality of applications?
Ans.
We treat all applications as strictly confidential. We do not share applicant profiles or information with head hunters or with other recruiters. However, we may share them with other Essar group companies. We also do not check references with your current employer at the initial stage, though you will be asked to submit such references before you join.

If I join Essar, where will I be located and can I choose my posting?
Ans.
Your location will depend on the business requirement and your area of specialisation. Essar is a multi-location business group and you should be open to both plant and corporate exposure. Essar looks at both availability of posts and an individualís location preferences before deciding on postings.

Will I have opportunities for cross-functional exposure?
Ans.
Yes. Essar provides cross-functional exposure to a select group of employees who have been identified as exceptional performers. Such exposure is intended to groom employees for higher future responsibilities.

Will I have access to other opportunities within the group?
Ans.
Yes. Essar is open to rotating people through various group companies, based on business need and the candidate's merit.

Ans.
Essar has an in-house institutionalised talent identification and career development system, used to identify fast-track performers. Essar also discusses a career map and different career paths with employees.

What training and development opportunities will I have access to at Essar?
Ans.
Essar has a strong commitment to training and development. Our dedicated HRD centre at Hazira (the Essar Learning Centre) provides 3.5 man days of training per employee per year, covering behavioural, technical and functional training.

What are the chances of getting an international transfer/exposure during my career?
Ans.
Essar is a huge conglomerate with a footing in many countries, so you may be required to travel or transfer abroad. For example, many employees have travelled to the Middle East, Europe and America in relation to their work. The opportunities for international exposure will depend on the requirements of the business.
