Power |
|
India's first independent
power plant with a 515 MW combined cycle capacity,
Essar power has set new standards of excellence
in power generation and plant productivity.
Essar Power's 515 MW combined cycle power plant
at Hazira supplies 300 MW to the Gujarat Electricity
Board (GEB), while 215 MW meets the entire power
requirements of Essar Steel Ltd. The plant commenced
its commercial operations in 1997. The plant benefits
from many strategic advantages, world-class equipment
and a skilled team.

| Strategic
advantages |
 |
Independent
international consultants have confirmed the
plant's design and construction to be world
class |
 |
The plant is highly efficient
and flexible |
 |
Both plant availability,
and the plant load factor are high |
 |
The plant has the lowest
'Manpower to Megawatt Ratio' in India. |
 |
Multi-fuel plant, capable
of operating on naphtha or gas. |
|
| The equipment that
has been installed at Essar's power plant comes
from the world's best suppliers General Electric,
Siemens, Honeywell and Hanjung, at a total capital
outlay of US$500 million. The Hazira combined cycle
block consists of some of the world's most renowned
manufacturer of power plant equipment including
General Electric, Siemens, Honeywell and Hanjung
having supplied equipment to Essar's power plant.
The total captive outlay on the plant is over US$
500 million. |

Three dual-fuel
GE-frame 9E gas turbine generators nominally
rated at 110 MW, at an average site ambient
temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. Essar commissioned
two generators in August 1995 and the third
during November 1995. |

Three dual-pressure, unfired
heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) supplied
by Korean Heavy Industries and Construction
Company Ltd, (HANJUNG) |

| Skilled Team
|
| Essar Power's lean
and highly-trained technical team is one of India's
best today. Unlike other power producers who employ
separate operations and maintenance contractors
to run their power plants, its state-of-the-art
equipment is run by its own internal team. It has
expertise to set up and develop any kind of power
plant and the capability to act as operations and
maintenance contractors for other power plants. |
