Hyderabad Studio: The Sims
Our Hyderabad Studio is also home to a Sims Development team. As Hyderabad is India’s fifth largest city and a growing hub for IT and Biotechnology, it makes a great home for EA. The Hyderabad studio is also poised for growth as other well known EA games start to be developed in India.
The Sims is the world’s most popular and bestselling game of all time. Created by game designer and BAFTA Fellowship award winner Will Wright, The Sims focuses entirely on the lives of virtual people called “Sims.” The player takes complete control of their Sim’s daily activities—such as sleeping, eating, reading, and bathing—in a fun and engaging virtual world. When designing the game, Will Wright thought of it as a “digital dollhouse.”
Lauded with overwhelmingly positive reviews since its release, The Sims has been a groundbreaking success for EA in many ways. It has attracted casual gamers and females (who account for more than 60% of sales) in a market that’s been dominated traditionally by young males. In 2002, The Sims became the top-selling PC game in history.
Without question, The Sims is one of the company’s greatest franchises. In addition to its phenomenal success on PC, The Sims has branched into the home and handheld console markets. MySims on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS has brought the franchise to an all-new audience in fun, new ways.

Hyderabad Studio: Worldwide Quality Assurance Technology Group
The Hyderabad Studio also contains a thriving and rapidly growing Worldwide QA Technology Group.
The QA Technology group evolved primarily within the EA Canada Studio as a response to growing game complexity and the need to supplement manual testing with additional tools and techniques. The team grew to involve four main functions:
1. JUICE software development 2. Test Engineering 3. Automation Engineering 4. Computer Assisted Testing Team (Automation)
Recently the QA Technology group has consolidated into a world-wide focus, incorporating multiple studio resources. The strategy moving forward is to further consolidate QA Technology operations in Hyderabad India. This leverages the high availability of talented software engineering talent in India. In addition, EA Mobile is already located in Hyderabad and the QA Technology group leverages off existing infrastructure and operations such as Finance, Facilities, and HR.
The QA Technology in Hyderabad, India includes:
- JUICE Development Team
- Tools Development Team
- Automation Engineering
- Computer assisted testing team – Automation
The QA Technology Group is part of the Central Development Services Label CDS — Led by COO, GPO & CDS President John Pleasants. Central Development Services includes the Quality Assurance team, Art outsourcing, localization, Product Certification and the Motion Capture team. 800 strong, the team serves all the product teams globally and is based in studio locations including Redwood City; Vancouver; Los Angeles; Montréal; Tiburon; Guildford; Madrid (Localization); Singapore (Localization); Bucharest (QA); Hyderabad (QA). The team accounts for over $100 R&D spend and is transforming the way EA works, driving higher quality and significantly lower costs.

India Publishing
EA India has a thriving Publishing organisation looking to bring EA games across India and Asia. The Publishing team undertakes strategic planning, field marketing, sales and distribution across India & Asia.
The publishing team has a range of exciting career opportunities including devising marketing strategies for EA Game Labels including, EA Games™, The Sims™, EA Casual Entertainment™ and EA Sports™. Marketing roles include PR, Advertising, online marketing and general product marketing amongst others. Sales specialists can work in Account Management and Key Account Management. Distribution roles possess a unique challenge especially given EA distributes to over 75 different countries.
